MANUFACTURING OF BIOMASS BRIQUETTES
WHAT IS BIOMASS BRIQUETTE ?
Biomass briquettes are a household and institutional fuel made by compacting/solidifying biomass waste. They can be produced with a range of raw materials including sawdust, bagasse, coconut husks, maize cobs, wheat / beans / barley straws and many more. Briquettes are manufactured by compacting or densification of the above materials to increase the low bulk density of biomass to high density. GES is Bio-Energy Supply Chain Management (SCM); successfully catering to Biomass requirements of IPPs (Independent Power Plants), Captive & Co-Generation Power Plants & processing plants covering aggregation, processing, storage & transportation; dealing with farmers, through VLEs till industry, with adequate earnings and profits for all stakeholders.
Biomass briquettes are 90 mm diameter, cylindrical in shape made from agricultural waste or wood waste. Widely used in pharmaceutical, FMCG, Chemical, food processing and beverages etc, biomass briquette is cost effective and carbon neutral with minimal impact on environment. The usage of briquettes in turn increases the farmers income and supports rural employment.

Sawdust briquettes: We specialize in manufacturing pure sawdust briquettes and pellets. Sawdust Briquettes have very high combustion efficiency and are environment friendly as they release negligible amount of smoke and have low ash content. The wood logs are converted into sawdust with our in-house machines, this way it makes it possible for us to avoid any impurity like nail, plastic or metal pieces in our product and hence guaranteeing quality assurance.

MANUFACTURING OF BIOMASS PELLETS :
Biomass pellets are biofuels made from compressed organic matter or biomass. They appear as cylindrical particles, with diameter of 6-8 mm, and length upto 4-5 times that of diameter. The water of dry basis is under 10%-15%, and the ash content is less than 1.5%.
In production, pellets and briquette are subjected to different pressures. Wood pellets have higher density because they are subjected to higher pressure from the mould. Biomass pellets are easier to burn, faster to transfer heat, and burn more efficiently.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF STEAM BOILERS (O&M)
The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) projects are for Boiler-based / Co-Generation / Bio-CNG / Bio-CBG etc. industries. All Services are performed by qualified and trained employees or sub-contractors of GES; complying with All Applicable Norms & Regulations; with competency to carry out the assigned tasks. The off take is generally in the form of Process Steam and billed at the rate of the steam supply.
Steam Management is an arrangement wherein the external agency such as Greenwake Energy Solution (GES) operates the boiler of the company and the billing is done on the basis of quantity of steam produced. Thus all the inputs required for steam generation such as fuels (briquettes, pellets, wood chips or processed agro waste), manpower, maintenance etc. is managed by the agency. This methodology of boiler operation is finding wider acceptance among the corporates. While our agency GES has boiler management and briquettes supply as core work. GES also partners with engineering consultants who expertise in boiler design and operation.
Steam production quantity is measured with the help of steam flow meter or input water quantity (if meter not available). This augurs well for both the parties – For the company it relieves them of the non-core work and coordination work for fuel supply whereas for the operator it gives them visibility for supplying planning through the contract period. Quality issues get addressed automatically as poor quality may result into scantier steam generation and hence more fuel to be burnt for getting the requisite quantity of steam.
WHY STEAM CONTRACTS ARE BENEFICIAL FOR COMPANY.
- Uninterrupted steam supply at pre-decided rates throughout the year.
- Insulation from volatility in fuel prices during off season and monsoons.
- Saving of manpower and man hours in coordination for fuel supply and quality
BIOMASS ENERGY CONSULTANCY
Greenwake Energy Solution undertake consulting for corporate to study their supply chain for biomass fuels. The criticality of uninterrupted supply of briquette is well known and is considered crucial by most utility managers. Any shortage or compromise in quality parameters can lead to output parameters such as steam pressure or temperature in case of thermo pack or hot air generator.
For any large sized boiler (5 TPH and above) supply of solid biofuels (briquettes or pellets) is a function of what is available in abundance in the vicinity. Since most biofuels are made from agricultural residue the availability is a function of season and crop pattern. This is exactly, what needs to be studied and worked upon under supply chain consulting.
GES studies what is widely available biomass material in the briquette manufacturing ecosystem in the freight viable surrounding of the boiler. The objective is to suggest what is available and whether its briquetted and if any changes need to be made to the boiler furnace or its feeding mechanism.
A meticulous study about the area is must before the setup of manufacturing unit. GES expertise in the given field and helps you to learn how to plan and implement projects of biomass fuels
